Operation Save Gunny

A TRUE story of a battered and abused pit bull who is VERY LOVING despite his hard life…….OREO COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED TOO!!!!!!!!!! Stupid ASPCA!

Pit Bulls in need of rescue by Nov 24 or they die

Please read it, it’s long, but very important - and urgent. THANKS. Please you can contact me at TCourt5096@aol.com if you wish. I will not share your email address. Monika Here the email: (2 parts)
Hello Everyone! At this point the search for a shelter or rescue has gone nationwide for these 2 pit bulls on death row in Weld County Humane Society. Evans, CO (970)-506-9550. They must be rescued before Tuesday 11/24/09
Could you please cross post this new message I would really appreciate it!
Informing FB friends that are in different states would be amazing, if you are willing. Please tell people to keep the chain going! Thank you ALL so much for helping me help “Ginger.” May the search for a second chance begin everyone, for an abused dog that should be getting rescued and rehabilitated not put down!
****Most Colorado shelters have already been contacted by multiple people and they are all full. :( Time to move on.*******
I decided to name this emaciated, abused and neglected dog, Ginger after my little girl in Philadelphia that I gave as a gift to my sister and B.O.L on Thanksgiving Day in 05′ Hello Everyone! My name is Melissa Triester my K-9 daughter is a beautiful Red Nosed Pit bull in Philadelphia. Where there are no legal problems there owning one. AMEN!!
I never heard of such until I moved to Denver, CO. 5K+ have been put down since 05′ and annually Denver spends hundreds of thousands of dollars. Down the toilet! Imagine if those hundreds of thousands of dollars were put towards rehabilitation…..SAD!

The story of Ginger, it is important but long…..sorry.
Back in 04′ I met this looser guy and his dog Ginger a Magnificent red fox colored pit bull. I had never seen a more beautiful dog in my life! She was the 1st pit bull I had ever met. She and he were in transition and he was living with friends. His friends had children and they just adored Ginger they tormented her to death! Pulling on her ears, always petting her, she would want to go after the cat; the household always teased her calling the cat’s name (Where’s Clouse?”pssbzzzbzzz”) She would go nuts. Poor Ginger!Anyway’s, to make a long story short. I had 0 interest in the looser but I just could not, not be apart from that special little girl, so I hanged out with him and Ginger everyday for over a year. I couldn’t believe I was spending so much time with someone that I had little to no interest in except his dog! Wild! Crazy! Unheard of! You could lay on her, you could lift her, she would snuggle with you. Literally you could do anything to that dog and she could care less! She was a fall in love magnet! There was just something you can’t quite put your finger on it about her that was ssssoooo special about her like no other. Growing up I had no pets. Not for long anyway. A cat and tropical fish that’s about it. There came a day where the owner had to move out of state and couldn’t take Ginger with him. So, he “dumped’ Ginger on the friends he was living with. A few weeks went by after he left and I get a frantic phone call from the friend stating that Ginger had a bout of dihheria and the husband is threatening her that “She’s gotta go!” The wife was concerned taking her to the ASPCA that she would be put down for her breed. I told her NO WAY! Over my dead body!
I didn’t care what my landlord said “She’s coming with me!”
Ginger and I had a wonderful life of our own together for about 5 months. One day I wanted my sister to visit me, to show her the amazing studio I was living in and for her to meet Ginger.mind you my sister got bit by a chihuahua as a kid and was always so fearful of dogs! WAY more than the average Joe. It was truefully ridiculous! Her coming over was a big deal with Ginger there. She met Ginger for about 10 min or so and she was O.K……….Then came Thanksgiving. I asked her and her husband if I could bring Ginger with…they agreed. Through out our visit both of them were constantly asking me “is she always this good?” “Does she always do that?” The only answer I could give them was a “yep, yep, yep” Somewhere some place while there, her and my B.O.L talked and my sister asked me just as we were leaving “Meliss, I’ve never had a dog before and I’m not making any promises b.u.t.t.t.. Can I see what it’s like to have a dog for the weekend?” I was like you want MY DOG for the weekend? You got to be kidding me! The only reason I consented was because my B.O.L. has owned multiple dogs in his past. Come Monday that was it…..They both fell head over heels madly in love with her. She was their Thanksgiving Day present from me!
I was able to give Ginger a lot as far as a life, but nothing in comparison to what my sister and B.O.L was able to give. The decision was not easy but was made for her best interest and her best interest only! My B.O.L exercises 15mi a day so she gets great exercise! She has a mainland house and a beach house, Ginger sleeps on a pony skin doggie bed.

She is living the life! The biggest joke in my family is that she went from “rags to riches.” if you have ever met a dog that there is instant chemistry, adoration and an immediate connection with, with eyes that you can see right thru her pure soul. Everyone that crosses paths with my little girl Ginger has this same experience. She is truly one of a kind. It is such an honor to have been able to give her the life she has now, though I miss her so dearly. The void in my heart I carried moving here in 05′ motivated me to go from corporate america to opening a successful pet sitting business. All because of my beloved Ginger. I was in health care for 20 yrs. Who woudda thunk? I am conducting a nationwide search for a shelter, a rescue that is pit bull friendly or a no-kill. The story is that there were 2 dogs that attacked a woman while walking her dog in Evans, CO last Saturday the 14th. I believe only 1 of the 2 made the attack and bit a woman and her dog. The news is magnifying that the dog had to be controlled via tranquilizer gun to make this look very negative to generate “pit bull news”. Mind you animal control was not on the scene. What do police officers know about containing an animal? The victims injuries acquired were not serious enough to require the woman or her dog to go to the hospital.
I very much empathize with this woman and dog. The experience must have been very SCARY! No doubt! I am glad she and her dog are O.K. The reason this pit bull attack story motivated me to help “make a difference”, is the photo shot they showed on the news an extremely emaciated dog. No muscle mass, ALL skin and bones head pinned to the ground! This dog has OBVIOUSLY been neglected and abused!
Reality: The dog was probly hungry and scared! I can’t begin to wrap my head around how the news would exploit such a severely abused dog and instead of getting it help and rehabilating it, that they throw it under the bus for it to just be put down because of it’s breed and a bite that left no serious injurys. Behind any dogs behavior good or bad there is ALWAYS a reason behind it!How can this be ignored? It’s absolutely inhumane? The photo says ALL! Anyway, folks it’s Thanksgiving season, the season of GIVING, my wish for this Thanksgiving is to save Ginger’s life. Rehabilate her, and give her the life she has never had in a happy and loving home that every dog deserves! ****It is just not right that a “victim” of abuse and neglect becomes a “victim” for death because of having bad owners! No matter what breed!*****
Based on the size of Ginger’s nipples she also leaves behind a litter of puppies :(
The 2 are currently being held @ Weld County Humane Society in Evans, CO if you can help, have your local rescue or shelter call Weld County Humane Society 970-506-9550 if they have room and are willing to take them before Tuesday.
The only way to save their lives is for them to be transferred via “shelter to shelter.”
If you think you have found somewhere for them to be placed please have them call
The number listed above. Help Needed Is:
• Diligent Volunteers nationwide to contact their local shelters and rescues repdiativley thru Tuesday to tell Gingers story. See if they can place her. Lots of facilities even though there is no space were letting people know that they have heard the buzz trying to save Ginger and word got spread to other shelters about her without even calling them. That is a really good thing!
PLEASE: Call Denver news channels and email The Denver Post newspaper too. No matter what state you’re in share with them the story I just told. DO NOT KILL GINGER! Help her get a new life for Thanksgiving, PLEASE!! Doing this will help SO much! News channels out here in Denver to contact are 4,7,9,2 and Fox 31
(News becomes news, by the interest of the public! The more a topic is talked about and is called in about, the more interest news stations become!)
Facebook this story to your friends across the country and ask them to keep the chain going for “Ginger!” HELP!!!
If you have any connections with national broadcast companies such as Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Ceaser Millan, Victoria Stillwell etc.
• Once placed financial assistance will be needed to keep up with their care @ the shelter.
• Cross post this email.
• Once placed volunteers might be needed to assist to accelerate the rehabilitation of Ginger.
****It’s such a shame! There is a trainer here in Denver we found to do the “Rehab” but he has no room to board them.******
******Before I leave you, PLEASE educate yourselves about “Oreo” in NYC. Oreo was thrown out of a 6 story building window by his abuser/bad owner. He broke both arms there are photos of him in casts money was raised by the ASPCA for more surgeries to help him. ASPCA collected the money to help heal Oreo then they put him down for no reason at all and collecting all the profit’s people donated to help him.*********Where does the madness end? Mind as well tell Oreo’s story to your local media too. Please send prayers Gingers way for her to be transferred into a shelter to be rehabilated! Thank you all SO much for your time and heroic help!

Vote for Gunny once a bait dog now a hero

Posted in: Animal Rescues, Informational, Pawz Newz, CONTESTS, Against BSL, Cross Posts — The Pawz Cauze @ 12:46 pm

Gunny is a rescue pit bull who was used as a “bait” dog at a dog fighting kennel in North Carolina .  He was left for dead after his body was too tattered to be of further use to his owners.   Gunny lost a leg, and nearly starved to death but was nursed back to health.  He is now an ambassador for his rescue organization and has helped raise a lot of money and public attention for them.

He is currently in a national photo contest where the winner gets to be in the Tournament of Roses Parade with international TV coverage, along with all sorts of other publicity opportunities, free food for the rescue shelter, etc.  Gunny is currently in 1st place in the contest which goes through the end of November.

Please go to the website and vote for Gunny’s photo.

Encourage your friends and fellow dog lovers to do the same!

If you’re interested in Gunny’s full story here’s a link to his video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWcQUsGT_nA
