Dear Friends,
I have just read and signed the petition: “Cuddles Dies From Torture”. She was only 6 weeks old and had no idea why she was cruely and brutally murdered. She lived a short time after her torture to feel only pain. Her tiny body couldn’t take it anymore so she joined so many other tortured animals on the other side of Rainbow Bridge. Please take a moment to read about this important issue, and join me in signing the petition. It takes just 30 seconds, but can truly make a difference. We are trying to reach 10,000 signatures - please sign here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/cuddles-dies-from-torture
Once you have signed, you can help even more by asking your friends and family to sign as well.
Thank you!
Pawz Up,
Leigh

The story of Ginger, it is important but long…..sorry.
Back in 04′ I met this looser guy and his dog Ginger a Magnificent red fox colored pit bull. I had never seen a more beautiful dog in my life! She was the 1st pit bull I had ever met. She and he were in transition and he was living with friends. His friends had children and they just adored Ginger they tormented her to death! Pulling on her ears, always petting her, she would want to go after the cat; the household always teased her calling the cat’s name (Where’s Clouse?”pssbzzzbzzz”) She would go nuts. Poor Ginger!Anyway’s, to make a long story short. I had 0 interest in the looser but I just could not, not be apart from that special little girl, so I hanged out with him and Ginger everyday for over a year. I couldn’t believe I was spending so much time with someone that I had little to no interest in except his dog! Wild! Crazy! Unheard of! You could lay on her, you could lift her, she would snuggle with you. Literally you could do anything to that dog and she could care less! She was a fall in love magnet! There was just something you can’t quite put your finger on it about her that was ssssoooo special about her like no other. Growing up I had no pets. Not for long anyway. A cat and tropical fish that’s about it. There came a day where the owner had to move out of state and couldn’t take Ginger with him. So, he “dumped’ Ginger on the friends he was living with. A few weeks went by after he left and I get a frantic phone call from the friend stating that Ginger had a bout of dihheria and the husband is threatening her that “She’s gotta go!” The wife was concerned taking her to the ASPCA that she would be put down for her breed. I told her NO WAY! Over my dead body!
I didn’t care what my landlord said “She’s coming with me!”
Ginger and I had a wonderful life of our own together for about 5 months. One day I wanted my sister to visit me, to show her the amazing studio I was living in and for her to meet Ginger.mind you my sister got bit by a chihuahua as a kid and was always so fearful of dogs! WAY more than the average Joe. It was truefully ridiculous! Her coming over was a big deal with Ginger there. She met Ginger for about 10 min or so and she was O.K……….Then came Thanksgiving. I asked her and her husband if I could bring Ginger with…they agreed. Through out our visit both of them were constantly asking me “is she always this good?” “Does she always do that?” The only answer I could give them was a “yep, yep, yep” Somewhere some place while there, her and my B.O.L talked and my sister asked me just as we were leaving “Meliss, I’ve never had a dog before and I’m not making any promises b.u.t.t.t.. Can I see what it’s like to have a dog for the weekend?” I was like you want MY DOG for the weekend? You got to be kidding me! The only reason I consented was because my B.O.L. has owned multiple dogs in his past. Come Monday that was it…..They both fell head over heels madly in love with her. She was their Thanksgiving Day present from me!
I was able to give Ginger a lot as far as a life, but nothing in comparison to what my sister and B.O.L was able to give. The decision was not easy but was made for her best interest and her best interest only! My B.O.L exercises 15mi a day so she gets great exercise! She has a mainland house and a beach house, Ginger sleeps on a pony skin doggie bed.
She is living the life! The biggest joke in my family is that she went from “rags to riches.” if you have ever met a dog that there is instant chemistry, adoration and an immediate connection with, with eyes that you can see right thru her pure soul. Everyone that crosses paths with my little girl Ginger has this same experience. She is truly one of a kind. It is such an honor to have been able to give her the life she has now, though I miss her so dearly. The void in my heart I carried moving here in 05′ motivated me to go from corporate america to opening a successful pet sitting business. All because of my beloved Ginger. I was in health care for 20 yrs. Who woudda thunk? I am conducting a nationwide search for a shelter, a rescue that is pit bull friendly or a no-kill. The story is that there were 2 dogs that attacked a woman while walking her dog in Evans, CO last Saturday the 14th. I believe only 1 of the 2 made the attack and bit a woman and her dog. The news is magnifying that the dog had to be controlled via tranquilizer gun to make this look very negative to generate “pit bull news”. Mind you animal control was not on the scene. What do police officers know about containing an animal? The victims injuries acquired were not serious enough to require the woman or her dog to go to the hospital.
I very much empathize with this woman and dog. The experience must have been very SCARY! No doubt! I am glad she and her dog are O.K. The reason this pit bull attack story motivated me to help “make a difference”, is the photo shot they showed on the news an extremely emaciated dog. No muscle mass, ALL skin and bones head pinned to the ground! This dog has OBVIOUSLY been neglected and abused!
Reality: The dog was probly hungry and scared! I can’t begin to wrap my head around how the news would exploit such a severely abused dog and instead of getting it help and rehabilating it, that they throw it under the bus for it to just be put down because of it’s breed and a bite that left no serious injurys. Behind any dogs behavior good or bad there is ALWAYS a reason behind it!How can this be ignored? It’s absolutely inhumane? The photo says ALL! Anyway, folks it’s Thanksgiving season, the season of GIVING, my wish for this Thanksgiving is to save Ginger’s life. Rehabilate her, and give her the life she has never had in a happy and loving home that every dog deserves! ****It is just not right that a “victim” of abuse and neglect becomes a “victim” for death because of having bad owners! No matter what breed!*****
Based on the size of Ginger’s nipples she also leaves behind a litter of puppies ![]()
The 2 are currently being held @ Weld County Humane Society in Evans, CO if you can help, have your local rescue or shelter call Weld County Humane Society 970-506-9550 if they have room and are willing to take them before Tuesday.
The only way to save their lives is for them to be transferred via “shelter to shelter.”
If you think you have found somewhere for them to be placed please have them call
The number listed above. Help Needed Is:
• Diligent Volunteers nationwide to contact their local shelters and rescues repdiativley thru Tuesday to tell Gingers story. See if they can place her. Lots of facilities even though there is no space were letting people know that they have heard the buzz trying to save Ginger and word got spread to other shelters about her without even calling them. That is a really good thing!
PLEASE: Call Denver news channels and email The Denver Post newspaper too. No matter what state you’re in share with them the story I just told. DO NOT KILL GINGER! Help her get a new life for Thanksgiving, PLEASE!! Doing this will help SO much! News channels out here in Denver to contact are 4,7,9,2 and Fox 31
(News becomes news, by the interest of the public! The more a topic is talked about and is called in about, the more interest news stations become!)
Facebook this story to your friends across the country and ask them to keep the chain going for “Ginger!” HELP!!!
If you have any connections with national broadcast companies such as Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Ceaser Millan, Victoria Stillwell etc.
• Once placed financial assistance will be needed to keep up with their care @ the shelter.
• Cross post this email.
• Once placed volunteers might be needed to assist to accelerate the rehabilitation of Ginger.
****It’s such a shame! There is a trainer here in Denver we found to do the “Rehab” but he has no room to board them.******
******Before I leave you, PLEASE educate yourselves about “Oreo” in NYC. Oreo was thrown out of a 6 story building window by his abuser/bad owner. He broke both arms there are photos of him in casts money was raised by the ASPCA for more surgeries to help him. ASPCA collected the money to help heal Oreo then they put him down for no reason at all and collecting all the profit’s people donated to help him.*********Where does the madness end? Mind as well tell Oreo’s story to your local media too. Please send prayers Gingers way for her to be transferred into a shelter to be rehabilated! Thank you all SO much for your time and heroic help!

Target:
Because a cause like this deserves to be known WORLWIDE
Sponsored by:
Not long ago, at around 2:00 PM an image struck the neighbors of Ezeiza (Buenos Aires, Argentina): Benet ran desperately, covered in flames, between the houses. The agonizing scream and cry of Benet caught the attention and compassion of everyone.
Benet was very well known around Ezeiza and it is why the ones who cared for him have done so ever since that day. It was because of their love that Benet is alive today and it is because of their love that he wants to keep living.
He still has two more months of recovery, but his hope is still intact. His right side and his abdominal are what the vets are really concerned about and even though he hasn’t lost his entire sigh, he can’t see without blurs because of the burns on his eyes.
Till today, Ricardo Eckerd tries to continue his normal routine in Ezeiza, but can’t. Or might we say: they don’t let him. Since the brutal attack became public he doen’t stop getting home calls, cellphone calls, letters, mails, texts, you name it. He doesn’t seem to mind that his neighbors have completely broken down his white Ford because he had it fixed a few days after. Of course, not without threatening the entire neighborhood: “Before leaving the neighborhood I’m gonna kill one of them”, he promised; “I’m gonna leave them handicapped”, he said to the people protesting outside his house. He suggests that the dog will “return to the neighborhood” so that he could “light him on fire once more”.
His words and reaction did not surprise the neighbors of course. He had a record for public violence.
After realizing that his Cocker had gotten pregnant he decided to take revenge on the author of the cause: Benet. So he called the dog and poured gas all over him. A little kid was watching as he did this and Ricardo said to him: “Now, you’re gonna see what I do”. His first attempt to light fire failed. Benet felt fear and tried to run and escape but Ricardo ran after him and tried to light him for the second time. And this time it worked.

Here is a sample letter to use as an example:
The Office of the Bronx County District Attorney:Thank you for recognizing public concern in the case of Tiger Lily, a kitten
scorched alive inside an oven on May 6, 2009. I understand Cheyenne Cherry,
17, is charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty, burglary, arson,
criminal trespass, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
I respectfully ask for your utmost deliberation in the investigation of
Cherry and her accomplice, who allegedly broke into ex-roommate Valerie
Hernandez’s home and trapped Tiger Lily inside an activated stove.
Apparently, they ransacked the apartment and raised the stove’s heat before
fleeing with stolen items. The girls never heard Tiger Lily’s last screams
and scratches against the oven door.
Please seek maximum adult incarceration of two years for felony animal
cruelty. Cherry also faces possible jail terms of 15 years for second-degree
burglary, one year for arson, and four years for criminal mischief. I urge
you to hold both teens accountable. Both require psychological evaluation
and therapy. Both should be barred from possessing or working with animals.
At the very least, they ought to be interned in a juvenile detention hall
until age 18 (if applicable). Then, reassessment of the girls’ personality
traits can determine if adult imprisonment is necessary.
Adolescents who commit brutal crimes against humans usually begin with
animals. Columbine shooter Eric Harris, 18, smashed mice with a crowbar and
set them on fire. Washington D.C. serial killer Lee Boyd Malvo killed stray
cats with a slingshot. Kip Kinkle blew up a cow and burned a live cat. He
then shot 25 classmates and murdered his parents in Springfield, Oregon.
After Luke Woodham, 16, mortally stabbed his mother and shot nine others, he
confessed to bludgeoning his dog with baseball bats and setting her on fire.
These murderers, like Cherry, were able to torture and kill without remorse.
Indeed, the intentional burning of an animal is a “particularly significant
predictor of violent and even homicidal behavior,” says Dr. Randall Lockwood
of ASPCA Anti-Cruelty Initiatives and a frequent consultant for cruelty
investigators, law enforcers and mental health professionals.
Cherry “thought we would play a joke on Valerie.” But she and her friend
are not guilty of warped humor or bad choices. Roasting a defenseless kitten
is the calculated action of a sociopath and a predator.
Thank you for prosecuting Cherry and her accomplice to the fullest degree
allowed by law.
Sincerely,
Your Name

It was a call that will leave us with nightmares; but our pain is no where near to what “Scatt” endured. The good news? We believe he will recover.
“A cat,” the sheriff’s deputy told us, panic in his voice, “has been hurt so horribly, I can’t even look at the wounds.”
The veteran deputy who had investigated murders, now faced an animal cruelty case of untold horror. “Scatt”, he told us, was a therapy cat who resided at a church, just south of Seattle, Washington. He spent the last decade helping those who were trying to turn their lives around. In the end, one of those very people turned on him.
BROKEN RIBS – 8” KNIFE WOUND – PERFORATED LUNG –
It is a story of profound sadness, but thanks to those who acted quickly, Scatt may survive.
“Scatt” was a homeless cat who found his way to the doorstep of The Cross Church in South Seattle. The people there named him Scatt, for when they first told him to find his way home, he simply wouldn’t leave. And it was a good thing – he found kindness, and a forever home in the arms of the church staff and volunteers.
Over the last ten years, he became a “therapy cat” for humans who too were homeless, and like Scatt, down on their luck. He provided unconditional love to those who had nothing, and would curl up in the laps of complete strangers, purring.
Today, one of the very rehabilitation clients he helped, viciously attacked Scatt, nearly gutting him.
PERP ARRESTED!
According to The Cross Church’s Rehabilitation Director (who was “Scatt’s boss” during therapeutic sessions with the homeless or indigent) the perpetrator admitted to attacking Scatt. Sheriff’s deputies quickly arrested the man and booked him on First Degree Felony Animal Cruelty charges - punishable up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine. The man, they learned, had multiple outstanding warrants against him.
Pasado’s Safe Haven teams up with veterinarians
It’s great news to know that the coward who allegedly attacked this innocent being, is in a jail cell. The courts will take care of him. But now, we need to take care of Scatt.
We need your help to support the life-saving care needed for Scatt, who is in the care of an excellent veterinary team at a south Seattle veterinary hospital. Scatt has already endured surgery to close the 8” “collarbone to tail” wound that was inflicted with a knife. His prognosis is “guarded”, the vets told us, and “optimistic”. We have every paw crossed that this little guy will make it.
Will you help? Any amount would be so appreciated.
Please donate here.
No adoption – Scatt’s church “family” wants him back – they adore him!
In addition to paying for Scatt’s medical bills, we asked if he needed long-term care at Pasado’s Safe Haven, and even an adoptive home. “No, we love him!” we were told. His family, for the last ten years, wants him back. And although we’d love to be able to wrap our arms around him and help him into his future, we know that the church, and the humans there, are his family. We’re just glad we can make him whole by helping with the medical bills. Thanks to you.
Please check pasadosafehaven.org frequently. We’ll be posting updates and photos often.
And thank you for this little being, who most likely walked up to the man who hurt him,
thinking he was his friend.
PLEASE DONATE HERE, and keep hoping that that “optimistic” prognosis comes true.
If you experience any problems with our donation form please contact us at 360.793.9393
